I'm Jonathan Paradox, and this is Paradox at Play. This podcast has been brewing for a couple of years, and finally: it's time. This is me saying hi, introducing the practice, and being honest that making this thing is at least partly how I soothe my own nervous system.
The first season is all about ridiculousness. A paradox holds two contradictory truths simultaneously, and ridiculous mindfulness is exactly that. Sit with that contradiction. Say the words out loud. Notice what happens.

PARADOX: Do you have an interest in ridiculousness? Do you find positivity in the ridiculous? Do you find a way of soothing yourself? [scratchy sample: My sonic signals. My sonic… I'm… here… soothing your… nervous system.]
PARADOX: Because, often we hear the word "ridiculousness," and we think of something that we shouldn't be doing? Shame, maybe? But I'm really interested in ridiculousness as one of the roots of playfulness. [melodic sample: ♪ Paradox! Paradox! Paradox. Paradox. Paradox at play. ♪]
PARADOX: Hello, this is Jonathan Paradox. You're listening to a teaser about a project I've been working on for quite a while. It's called [melodic sample: ♪ Paradox at play ♪]

PARADOX: And this is me saying hi. I think it's time.

PARADOX: After a couple of years of a few starts and stops, I'm finally creating this thing. And so if you're listening to this… [scratchy sample: I'm here, soothing your nervous system.]
PARADOX: I mean, if you're listening to this, I'm trying to soothe at least my own nervous system... [scratchy sample: Technically… My name's Jonathan Paradox Lee.]
PARADOX: Yep. My name is Jonathan Paradox Lee. [low scratchy sample: I'm here soothing your nervous system… This might be a little bit surprising that I'm speaking directly to you.]
PARADOX: You might not be that surprised that I'm speaking directly to you. [scratchy samples: I know this might be a little bit… technically… my sonic signals.]
PARADOX: Something is here to surprise you, at least. I know I'm surprised. I'm surprised that I'm still doing this thing. I'm surprised I'm talking to you. I'm surprised I figured out enough technical what how to make a few things happen so that this podcast I'm working on can itself be, um. Well?
[bongos]
PARADOX: Playful? [melodic samples: ♪ At play! At play! ♪]
PARADOX: And something that you might want to listen to? But importantly, to be honest, I'm making something I want to listen to.
